Echo — How it works

Echo is a 1-to-1 messaging app where everyone writes in their own language, and the other side reads in theirs. No copy-paste into Google Translate, no « can you say that in English ? ». Just talk.

The basics

Sign up with a beta code at /Echo/register.php.
Pick your default language — the one you want to read in. You can change it later.
You'll get 2 invite codes by email to share with friends so they can join too.
Once activated, open a conversation: tap New conversation, search a username starting with @.
The other person gets a contact request. Once they accept, you can chat.

The magic: translation

You write in French → your friend reads in Korean. They write in Korean → you read in French. We keep the original visible below the translation so you can learn or check.

Customize per-conversation

For each conversation you can set:

Language: what you want to read in for this person specifically.
Style preset: Literal, Simplified (for beginners in the other person's language), Technical, Casual, Formal.
Context: a free text the AI uses to adapt. Example: « I'm a doctor », « short answers only », « keep code terms in English ».

Example: Your friend is a Japanese student learning French. Set Simplified preset and context « French learner, A2 level » on their side. Your messages will arrive easier to read for them, without you having to think about it.

Bots Beta

Two AI personas live inside Echo so you can test the app even alone:

@line — Yuki Takeda, 24, frontend dev in Tokyo. Replies in casual Japanese.
@sophia_ai — Sophia Klein, 38, philosophy professor in Berlin. Replies in formal German.

Open a conversation with them like with any human. They have their own personality, memory of your chat, and reply in their native language.

Talk to David

The owner of Echo is reachable as @dip__ai. Conversations with him are free and don't count against your beta limit. Say hi.

Beta limits

50 messages total per user during the beta. Conversations with @dip__ai don't count.
You get a heads-up at 40 messages.
At 50, you'll be redirected to a short feedback form so you can tell David what worked and what didn't.

Privacy

Translations go through the OpenAI API. Don't share sensitive secrets here yet. End-to-end encryption is on the roadmap.
